1. Purpose
The American Society of Management Consulting (ASMC) is committed to promoting professionalism, integrity, competence, and ethical conduct in management consulting, professional certification, training, leadership, and related advisory practice.
This Code of Ethics sets out the standards of conduct expected from all individuals and organizations associated with ASMC, including applicants, candidates, certified professionals, members, trainers, assessors, partners, and affiliated organizations.
2. Scope
This Code applies to all persons and entities who:

participate in ASMC programs, assessments, or professional activities

3. Core Ethical Principles
3.1 Integrity
Individuals and organizations associated with ASMC shall act honestly, fairly, and responsibly in all professional dealings. They shall avoid deception, fraud, misrepresentation, and any conduct that could damage public trust or the reputation of ASMC.
3.2 Professional Competence
ASMC-associated professionals shall perform their work only within the limits of their qualifications, expertise, and experience. They shall maintain and improve their knowledge and skills through continuous learning and professional development.
3.3 Objectivity
All decisions, assessments, recommendations, and professional judgments shall be made impartially and without bias, favoritism, discrimination, or improper influence.
3.4 Confidentiality
Confidential, personal, organizational, commercial, and assessment-related information obtained through professional practice or ASMC activities shall be protected and shall not be disclosed without proper authority, unless disclosure is required by law or ethical duty.
3.5 Respect and Professional Conduct
All persons covered by this Code shall treat clients, candidates, colleagues, organizations, and the public with dignity, fairness, courtesy, and respect. Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, abuse of authority, and unprofessional behavior are not acceptable.
3.6 Accountability
Professionals shall accept responsibility for their actions, decisions, advice, and conduct. They shall be prepared to justify their professional judgments and comply with ASMC standards, policies, and procedures.
4. Ethical Obligations
4.1 Compliance with Laws and Standards
ASMC-associated individuals and organizations shall comply with all applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and ASMC rules, policies, and requirements.
4.2 Truthful Representation
No person shall make false, misleading, exaggerated, or unverified claims regarding:

professional titles

affiliations
-
consulting outcomes

training achievements

ASMC approval or endorsement
Only valid and current ASMC credentials may be used, and they must be presented accurately and in accordance with ASMC policies.
4.3 Ethical Use of Credentials
ASMC credentials, certificates, badges, logos, titles, and designations shall be used only by authorized persons and only in the approved manner. Expired, suspended, revoked, or inapplicable credentials must not be used or displayed as valid.
4.4 Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest
Individuals shall avoid situations where personal, financial, organizational, or relational interests may improperly influence professional judgment or create unfair advantage. Any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest shall be disclosed promptly and appropriately.
4.5 Fair Assessment and Certification Practice
All candidates, assessors, trainers, reviewers, and decision-makers shall maintain fairness, confidentiality, impartiality, and integrity throughout the certification and assessment process. Cheating, plagiarism, impersonation, falsification of documents, leakage of assessment materials, or improper assistance is strictly prohibited.
4.6 Respect for Intellectual Property
All persons shall respect copyrights, trademarks, proprietary methods, teaching materials, assessment tools, research outputs, and other intellectual property rights belonging to ASMC or third parties.
4.7 Professional Responsibility to Clients and Stakeholders
Professionals shall act in the legitimate interests of clients and stakeholders while maintaining ethical independence, honesty, and professional standards. Advice and services shall be delivered responsibly and with due care.
4.8 Equality, Diversity, and Non-Discrimination
ASMC is committed to fair access and equal opportunity. Discrimination on the basis of race, nationality, gender, age, disability, religion, or any other protected status is inconsistent with this Code.
5. Specific Expectations for Certified Professionals
ASMC-certified individuals are expected to:

uphold the reputation and credibility of ASMC

maintain current knowledge and competence in their field

engage in continuing professional development
-
practice ethically and responsibly
-
provide accurate information during application, renewal, and verification processes
-
cooperate with ASMC in any review, audit, complaint, or ethics investigation

notify ASMC of any serious matter that may affect their professional standing or certification status
6. Specific Expectations for Assessors, Trainers, and Reviewers
Those involved in ASMC education, assessment, review, or certification decisions must:

avoid favoritism or undue influence

protect the confidentiality of candidates and assessment materials

apply standards consistently and fairly

disclose conflicts of interest

avoid coaching, assessing, or deciding inappropriately where independence is compromised
7. Prohibited Conduct
The following conduct is prohibited:

fraud or dishonesty

falsification of records, qualifications, or experience

plagiarism or unauthorized use of materials

cheating or facilitating cheating

misuse of ASMC credentials, logos, or status

harassment, discrimination, or abusive conduct

bribery, corruption, or improper inducement

breach of confidentiality

unethical marketing or misleading promotional claims

conduct that seriously damages the reputation of ASMC
8. Reporting Ethical Concerns
Any person who becomes aware of suspected misconduct, unethical behavior, fraud, or breach of this Code should report the matter to ASMC through the appropriate complaints, appeals, or ethics reporting process.
Reports should be made in good faith and supported by relevant information where possible. ASMC shall review reported matters fairly, impartially, and confidentially to the extent reasonably possible.
9. Investigation and Disciplinary Action
ASMC reserves the right to investigate any alleged breach of this Code. Where a breach is established, ASMC may take appropriate action, which may include:

requirement for corrective action

suspension of certification, membership, or privileges

withdrawal or revocation of certification or recognition

restriction on future participation in ASMC activities

10. Duty to Cooperate
All applicants, candidates, certified persons, members, assessors, trainers, partners, and affiliated organizations are expected to cooperate fully and honestly with ASMC in relation to ethics reviews, investigations, audits, compliance checks, and disciplinary processes.
11. Acceptance of the Code
By applying for, accepting, renewing, or using any ASMC certification, designation, membership, badge, role, or affiliation, the individual or organization agrees to comply with this Code of Ethics and any related ASMC rules, policies, and procedures.
12. Review and Amendments
ASMC may review and update this Code of Ethics from time to time to reflect evolving professional standards, certification requirements, legal obligations, and organizational priorities.
